Introducing architect Alex Tapia
Originally from Mexico City, Alex Tapia has lived in Cabo for 45 years now. Interestingly, he was the second architect to move to Cabo. That was when Cabo started gaining interest as something more than fishing towns. Now that he’s lived in Cabo for 45 years, Alex tells Nick that he’s designed 170 houses there so far. That’s quite an amazing legacy!
Located in El Pedregal – La Favorita
Built inside of El Pedregal, La Favorita is an amazing home right on the ocean. Originally designed by Alex Tapia back in 1991, this house was a highly customized home with many personal touches. Regarding the style, Alex designed it using Spanish architecture standards.
There are three primary factors that reflect Spanish architecture. First is the long entry way with courtyard. Then, the many columns that were originally in place. Finally, the many arches throughout the house gave it the Spanish character he was looking for back then.
Now, the home has been completely remodeled by Alex. Also, he has decided to sell La Favorita. Mentioning to Nick, Alex says that he brought this house to the 21st century. As you’ll see in the video, it’s quite modern and elegant everywhere you look. Finally, Alex tells Nick that he’s completely changed the “bones” of the house for the remodel.
