Cabo is a worldwide favorite vacation spot
Although they have communicated through their social media connections and with email, Nick Fong and Susie Albin-Najera have never met face-to-face. And even though they’re meeting in an online video chat, now they can have a real discussion about tourism in Cabo.

After first opening the Los Angeles office of the Los Cabos Tourism Board back in 2019, Susie has been running the office for three years now. And it’s been quite an exciting time, though the scare of Covid-19 came soon after setting up shop. She has been the only person in the Los Angeles office, which means her agenda and schedule have been quite full.
The reason Los Angeles was chosen for the office location is simple: Los Angeles is the number-one market for the Los Cabos Tourism Board. Of course, Susie is responsible for covering all of the United States from her location. But her primary objective is to nurture the most-important area based in market importance – Los Angeles.
Nick mentions that Los Cabos has daily quick and direct flights from Los Angeles, which is a sign of that important market. As such, he agrees about the importance of the Los Angeles market. In the video, Nick poses an important question to Susie about what trends she’s been experiencing in her local market over the previous three years in business.
Recent market trends revealed by Susie
As Susie mentions, she was originally told by the Los Cabos Tourism Board about the need for a Los Angeles location. Having been so close to the start of the Pandemic, it all appeared to change only a few months later. Fortunately, Cabo and other great Mexican destinations were only closed for a couple of months. That revealed an amazing market trend in the positive direction.
At the time she opened the Los Angeles office, the trajectory of the market was already quite positive. In fact, Susie sites that as one of the reasons for establishing that office location. Also, she knew that the Mexican tourism boards had been dissolving that same year in Los Angeles. As you can see, she had one amazing opportunity to capitalize on – the popular tourism market for Cabo.
Having been one of the only world travel destinations not closed to tourism during the early months of the pandemic, a new type of traveler had immerged – one that discovered Cabo for the first time. To explain, a new market opened up and Cabo delivered by providing outstanding safety measures. Also, they did this by re-opening quickly for tourism when everywhere else was closed for business.
From a real estate and vacation rental perspective, Nick said that tourism in Cabo is now better than ever. In two areas, both tourism and the real estate market all over Baja Sur has grown by by record numbers since 2020 – they’ve had their best years yet!
