How did JJ and Olivia discover Cabo?
Back in early 2020—right when the COVID-19 pandemic hit—JJ and Olivia flew to Cabo for the very first time. Cabo had been on their list for years, and even though they arrived during global lockdowns, they stayed in beautiful San José del Cabo and instantly felt the charm of the area, despite the quiet “ghost town” atmosphere.
Understanding the unusual timing, they returned in January 2021, bringing two of their three children. Almost immediately, JJ found himself asking Olivia whether she would consider living in Cabo.
Just two months later, they purchased their first Cabo condo after selling a property in Northern California. Soon after, they sold another California property and used the funds to buy a second home in Cabo—what JJ jokingly calls a “two-for-two.”
After watching Nick Fong’s PODCAST for nearly two years, they decided it was finally time. They made the full-time move to Cabo in August 2022. Olivia even tells Nick that *he* is the one who brought them to Los Cabos—thanks to all the episodes they watched.
Where JJ and Olivia Huskey are from
Olivia shares that she was born and raised in Yuba City, just outside Sacramento—a small, close-knit farming town. JJ is from Mariposa, California.
Before moving to Cabo, the two worked in real estate in California for eight years. Olivia explains that her mother worked in real estate before her and was the one who encouraged her to get her license. That push sparked the passion she carries today.
Starting their real estate career in Los Cabos
Having personally experienced two full real estate closings in Mexico, JJ and Olivia arrived well-prepared with a strong understanding of both American and Mexican real estate processes. Combining their California experience with their hands-on Cabo buying journey, they were ready for the next step.
