Brighton West’s amazing story and background
In the video, Brighton West explains how he and his wife first came to visit La Paz. After arriving, they quickly purchased a home there after falling in love with La Paz and the first home they toured. As Brighton tells Nick, he uses his YouTube Channel, Almost Retired in Mexico, to reveal the amazing facts about the area along with his adventures there. Also, he reveals how to become an ex-pat and how things work in Mexico to educate his followers.
After living in La Paz for almost two years quite happily, Brighton now has quite a story to tell. To begin, he spends his winters in La Paz and his summers in Portland, OR. When Nick asks Brighton about where he’s originally from, Brighton says that he’s lived in many places in the United States, as he details this during their interview.
Just prior to the pandemic hitting, Brighton and his wife had decided to visit La Paz. This was after reading a blog post about it. And, they already had some interest in Mexico after visiting some towns like Tijuana and Ensenada just south of the border. Therefore, they went down to La Paz for a three day trip.
Once they arrived in La Paz, they “hired” an agent from Ronival Real Estate to tour some homes there – he called this a “free tour.” Surprisingly, Brighton and his wife quickly fell in love with the first home they looked at. Then, the submitted an offer just before they left – the process began!
How Brighton purchased a La Paz home
In the PODCAST interview, Nick asks Brighton to tell his audience about his personal experience buying a home in La Paz. In response, Brighton reveals to Nick that once they fell in love with the first home they walked through, they submitted their offer before heading back to Portland. From Portland, they went back and fourth a few times to get the price right. Then, their offer was accepted and they closed the deal from Portland.
Interestingly, the pandemic hit hard right after they finalized their purchase. After that, the value of their new home rose quickly – it “skyrocketed” according to Brighton. Now being two years later, Brighton reveals that their home value has now doubled. Today, they really love their home and spend every winter there in La Paz.
