Paying US taxes while living in Cabo

Be sure to watch this first Q and A video as Nick answers the question about paying US taxes while living in Mexico.  As you’ll see, the answer is yes.  Nick explains that the United States is the only country in the world that requires its citizens to file taxes every year, regardless of what country in which they reside.  And since you can file your taxes online, it’s easy.  Just make sure you file before April 15th each and every year.

Discover the difference between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas

Next, Nick discusses these two amazing cities.  To begin, Los Cabos is two amazing towns, San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.  He calls San Jose del Cabo a traditional Mexican town in Baja California Sur.  It has the big church, it has the “art walk” on Thursdays, there’s a lot of culture throughout, great restaurants, and it even has its own fantastic marina.

Discover Cabo San Lucas

As you’ll see, Cabo San Lucas has it all.  From world-famous marlin fishing competitions, to world-renowned golfing, right against the beach, you’ll find the best of everything you’re looking for in a great vacation destination.  But, there’s nothing quite like Cabo San Lucas nightlife.

If you wish to truly enjoy Cabo San Lucas nightlife, it’s important to start your day right.  To see what a great day would be like in Cabo San Lucas, check out:  Cabo San Lucas Cruise:  Come see the destination of your dreams.  There, read about many of the great daytime activities you can experience while in Cabo.

Learn about San Jose del Cabo

Being just 30 minutes north of Cabo San Lucas, the town of San Jose del Cabo is a peaceful fishing village along the Sea of Cortez.  Unlike its more festive neighbor, Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo is a charming and sophisticated town.  And, it displays an inspirational Spanish-colonial character throughout.

The downtown area boasts historic architecture, such as the 18th century Misión de San José del Cabo Anuiti, and the 19th century City Hall, with a courtyard that features images depicting historic Baja-California life from previous eras.

If you’re a nature lover, you’ll truly enjoy the Wildlife Estuary.  Aficionados of fine art and fine dining love to explore the historic art district, with its chic galleries and upscale restaurants.

The need for a car while living in Los Cabos

See this next Q and A video from Nick Fong as Nick answers the question about the importance of owning a car when you live in Cabo.  He is frequently asked this question, so he decided to inform you about it here.  As you’ll see, it’s not that simple – it depends on your situation.

Watch as Nick mentions how you don’t actually need a car when in Los Cabos.  If you’re going to be there just a couple weeks out of the year, you might want to rent a car while you’re staying in your house or condo.

As Nick explains, some of his clients have owned properties for quite some time in the marina or on the beach and they are able to walk everywhere they want to go.  But most of their clients do own a car in Cabo.  The drive down is beautiful and not too long, so it’s easy to get a car there.  Then, you can either keep it there are use it to return.  It all depends on you!

Nick’s recommendation about what type of car to have in Cabo

If you decide to take a car to Cabo, Nick recommends a truck or a 4×4 vehicle.  As Nick says, Cabo is in the desert after all.  That means, it’s a good idea to have clearance and good traction, just in case you drive through sand or up some of the beautiful mountain roads.  In fact, off-road exploration is very exciting in Cabo.  There are vistas that will take your breath away if you drive up to see them.
